Description
Set in the nineteenth century Bermuda, a notorious horrible crime was committed. It was late on a Sunday night, on October 20th, 1878. The murder of a forty-one-year-old black woman named Anna Regina Skeeters (nee Evans). Anna, a local Somerset girl, had unfortunately suffered a horrible death. It was administered upon her by her husband, Edward James Skeeters, a serial adulterer, who frequently enter into casual sexual relationships with other women. The sister of one of these women, continuously taunted Anna, causing Anna to confront her husband. His reaction was to strike out at her in an unthinkable manner. This story is their story, based on their marriage, his philandering ways and ultimately, his diabolical crime. It was one of the most vicious murders ever perpetrated on the tiny Island. The sin was so atrocious and coldly calculated; it shocked the small Island to its core. Thus, angered the colonists enough to create mobs intending of lynching Edward, and the practice of witchcraft to dispel the offender. During the trial, the skilled prosecutor left nothing to chance. He didn't want to jeopardise a guilty verdict that he expected. The trial proceedings were the trial of the century of that time. However, to this day, it still is a murder, that is so foul, that's never been committed in Bermuda. People from across the Island, walked the 21-mile distance, to flocked the tiny one-room courthouse, (held at Hamilton Goal), to get a glimpse of the murderer. Ultimately, a death sentence was handed down. Also, a judicial order, never since been ordered, was bestowed upon Edward Skeeters. A Judgement was ordered that would follow his skeletal remains, for an eternity and beyond.
